1. 7134 Brooks Lane, Action, Late at Night

[Ako had enough. The large bed was too cold and she was shivering almost uncontrollably since the cold had settled in. Bundled up in a housecoat wasn't enough for her, even despite the size. It was time to suck up the dignity and do something she hadn't done since she was at least six.

Marching over towards the master bedroom and hoping to god that Marvelous and Ambrosia hadn't done anything else for heat -- hey she listened to Kanade's girlish fantasies before -- she pushed the door open and hopped up onto their bed, sleeping or not. And without preamble, dug herself into the sheets from the bottom up to worm beside her parents.

Dignity intact. Kind of. Unless they shove her out or something.]

2. Out in town earlier that morning

[Ako's in town, having bundled up incredibly in mittens, and a jacket and everything else. She was looking for some kind of supplies, candles, blankets, anything. But the stores were so incredibly bare of essentials.]

Seriously this is getting ridiculous. I get here and it's like a freezer. Worse than anything Kanon Town had gotten before.

[And this was from a girl who, close to winter, wore her usual outfit of suspender shorts and a long sleeved shirt. Reaching for a blanket that was very very high up, she wished for her boots. At least then, she could have reached it.]

3. Phone

Okay, I have to ask. Is this normal? Really? I don't think shutting down the power when it get this cold is anything but normal.

Sharing body heat is the best way to keep warm.

This isn't sharing body heat. This is joining an already cold set of blankets and clothing.

Well more heat will disperse from more bodies.

Look...take it from someone who's had to do this in space with a broken environmental control: more bodies won't disperse more heat without getting rid of everything in the way. And that ain't happening.

[ BAH, YOU GUYS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ROUGHING IT. :| However, the wriggling does get her awake and she rolls over a bit. ]

Ye know, th'Arctic is much colder than this. I've sailed those seas before.

[ Even if she doesn't have her pirate regalia on, she's dressed in layers. Her first one is the pair of pajamas she was given, among other kinds of clothes and socks. Her head, hands, and feet are all covered and she's dressed for warmth. ]

But, hmm... Say. We don't have lanterns or anythin' like that 'round, right?

Great! Follow me, then. If we stay in bed all day, then we're not doin' much good fer ourselves. It's better t' keep active so tha' th' blood keeps flowin'.

[ She tosses the covers off and goes down the stairs to the kitchen, taking the stairs two at a time. Ako, Marvelous, you're about to be introduced to how people really roughed it in the 18th century. She's testing to see if the stove works and when she can smell gas, she lights a match and goes to start a fire - it's contained, don't worry - and starts to warm up four pans. ]

Ako, Marvelous - any of ye. Go t' th' garage 'n go get some charcoal. We're gonna be pretty warm through this.

[Bundles coat up tightly and heads into the garage to find the charcoal. He has heard of it, but never actually used it. No real use or equivalent in space and all]

[Sliiiiides out of bed and follows Ambrosia. At least this would give them an idea on how to keep warm.]

[ Ambrosia turns to Ako and the drone!kid before nodding. ]

'Course I do, mate. See, I'm gonna heat up th' charcoal 'n th' pans. Then, when it's hot enough, I'll put 'em underneath th' mattress so tha' we can all keep warm. Then, I'm gonna keep th' oven door open long enough t' get some heat goin' on in this house, but we won't be relyin' too much on tha'.

[Sets the bag down with a triumphant 'thud']

'N, well, tha' would be a bad idea 'cause we'd all be crispy 'n dead. 'N I don't think tha' I'd want to die via bein' burned alive.

[ How's that for a comeback? Though, when he comes back with the charcoal, Ambrosia goes to take a measuring cup out of the cupboard and rips open the bag before putting the cup into the bag to get some charcoal. She walks back to the oven and puts it the pan before going back and doing the same thing again until she puts the pans on the stovetop.

A light sizzling noise is heard before Ambrosia steps back a bit. So far, so good. ]

We wouldn't happen t' have any lanterns about, would we? Tha' way, it's safer t' use th' candles without worryin' 'bout a fire if they fall over or somethin'.

We can always use flower vases or bowls to keep them in failing that.
